Yeah, it’s my general feeling that show!Jaime is going to have been quietly storing all of these things away until the mountain crumbles and he can’t turn that blind eye any longer. Just- what the heck is going to be that thing at this point?! If blowing up the sept and killing their son weren’t enough, what’s going to break him? It’s going to make flimsy narrative sense at best.

I mean, that is one way to interpret it but I feel like it requires too much rationalization from the audience for even that to flow. I think  they should have showed more discomfort or hesitance on Jaime’s part than a fleeting question about Tommen and total radio silence on the wildfire. That should have brought a huge shock wave and some tangible struggling on Jaime’s part. Give us some sense of how he is growing increasingly unsettled or worried about the lengths Cersei is willing to go to, even as he persists in defending and lying to himself about her. Show us that Jaime is pointedly trying not to think too much about what Cersei has done and what she is capable of. But that’s not the sense I got from his conversation with Olenna. He was talking about Cersei with the same fervor and passion he used with Edmure last season. The one thing that clearly discomforts Jaime right now is Euron Greyjoy, and that’s just not enough.

“Aaaand cut to the sex. But why not. But I kinda like the transition…”

He’s going to have to kill her.

See, this ending would not be at all narratively satisfying considering all that has happened. Jaime has swallowed too much from Cersei for me to accept that transition. Honestly, what would it take for Jaime Lannister to turn on Cersei? He brushed aside her blowing the Sept of Baelor using Aerys’ wildfire as if this was not the same thing he became a kingslayer to prevent. He brushed aside how she caused their youngest child’s suicide and then told him that Tommen betrayed her. He brushed aside how much she is turning to Aerys in his brutality and cruelty (did you hear what she wanted to do to Olenna? Um, it was Cersei who armed the Faith Militants to use against Loras and Margaery. It was Cersei who killed Loras and Margaery and Mace. Olenna’s known actions towards Cersei should not provoke such a brutal response. This is not wanting someone dead, this is wanting them to suffer as much as possible.)

However the show plays Jaime’s valonqar moment, I’m gonna be sitting here rolling my eyes. Jaime’s story is destroyed beyond repair. They made him into that weird puppet that is only driven by loyalty to Cersei even when his previous character motivation necessitates a break between them based on all she has done. They did not give us a proper development to such a climax on Jaime’s part, and it would only be dramatic because of Cersei’s shock at having her other half do this to her but it would not be a natural development to Jaime’s story, not one built on consistent characterization and character motivation at least.

I’d really like to know what kind of invisibility cloak Cersei’s side uses. Because Euron managed to hide his ships and avoid detection altogether again until he was right on top of the other side’s navy, though this time is more impressive since they were in broad day light. Also, Jaime managed to teleport his army to the gates of Highgarden. He, somehow, managed to haul the entire Lannister army out of the Westerlands and so deep into the Reach without anyone knowing in advance. Not only that but apparently the entire Reach just…. left the continent to go vacationing in Valyria? Yeah, sure, the Lannisters have Randyll Tarly, but what happened to Paxter Redwyne? Mathis Rowan? The Hightowers? All the noble Reacher families not named Tarly? I mean, the Redwynes and the Hightowers alone would have mastered a substantial army, and both are kin to the Tyrells.

So how did an army that, by all calculations, should be numbered (the War of the Five Kings is a thing that happened. Heavy Lannister losses at Robb Stark’s and Stannis Baratheon’s hands is a thing that happened. The Lannister numbers should by abysmal by this point) accomplish the impressive feat of marching through the Reach and taking Highgarden based on the support of ONE Reacher house? Cersei’s side is becoming this season’s Ramsay, winning easy battles that do not make sense logistically and maintaining support from all sides when basic logic makes that unfathomable.

But the Tyrells are roses, and Tyrion’s 10 good men aren’t as good as Ramsay’s 20. That’s the show’s reasoning.

Bran is in da house. He’s unsettling as the Three-Eyed Raven tbh. But Sansa’s hug!!!! And the Stark theme!!! I cry.

But honestly, dude, what makes you think that bringing up one of the worst nights of your sister’s life a good idea? If your goal was to creep her out, congrats you did it.

(Meanwhile, I’m sure Littlefinger is lurking somewhere planning another speech that makes no sense. Did anyone actually understand anything from that gibberish he said to Sansa before Bran arrived?)

First of all, why is LF acting as an advisor to Sansa?

Second,
I like that they are showing Sansa casting her eye towards things like food stock and the logistics of how they can survive winter. It paints a wholesome picture of House Stark’s
plans for the Long Night, Jon has the military angle and Sansa has the administrative one. They are also establishing that Winterfell would be
the base of operationssecond line of defense once the Wall comes down but they kind of skipped the explanation as to why.

I like the dynamic between Jon and Dany’s faction. The awkwardness can be stifling sometimes but it makes loads of sense for them to be like that. I also appreciate that moment between Jon and Tyrion when Jon paused after talking about what he would do if someone told him about the White Walkers, it’s an acknowledgement that it is difficult to believe, and I find that far more plausible than the immediate acceptance of the Northern lords. Skepticism is perfectly normal in this case.

Hold the fuck up. She just opens the door without a care. How the fuck is this woman still queen? That would confirm Stannis accusations, prove that she did usurp the throne, and get her convicted of incest. But the rules have suddenly ceased to apply to Cersei. Who cares about the story making sense?

Aaaand cut to the sex. But why not.

But I kinda like the transition actually. To me, it establishes another parallel to Aerys and works to frame how Westeros genuinely has a mad queen sitting the throne. Both mad monarchs got aroused by torture, whether physical or mental. The downside of this parallel is again highlighting how infuriating Jaime’s story is. Cersei is literally turning into another version of the king Jaime sacrificed his honor to stop and visiting the same devastation on the realm, but Jaime is rolling with it for ~love~.

Good god, let this scene between Ellaria and Cersei end. Phenomenal acting from both Lena and Indira, but it’s literally making me sick. Torture porn isn’t my favorite pastime.

Just end already. Lord.

You know, I’m gonna be SO happy when they run out of Dornish characters to sexualize. Because while we’re in Winter and literally everyone on the show is wearing long sleeves, Ellaria and Tyene are still dressed like they are lounging on a beach somewhere.

What are these idiots in King’s Landing cheering for anyway? You’d think Ellaria blew up the Sept or something.
