Ahhh. Arya’s face when Hot pie tells her Jon has Winterfell!!!! THE STARK THEME AS SHE CHOOSES HER FAMILY OVER KILLING CERSEI!!! So many tears.
Poor Jon Connington. If only he was a show character….
I guess the Redwyne fleet does not exist on the show?
Cool speech, Cersei. Except you killed hundreds of noblemen including your uncle and Hand, the Queen who just happened to be your gooddaughter, and the highest religious authority in Westeros. You sure you should be talking about what Dany did to noblemen?
Why is anyone buying this? That’s inexplicably easy. How on earth does blowing the damn sept of Baelor with hundreds of people inside garner no backlash from the nobles or the smallfolk?
Smart move on Tyrion’s part. Instead of sending a summon and alienating the North from the get go, wording it as an invite but slipping in hints about Dany’s power bloc sends a clear message about what she can do while leaving the door open for an alliance and increasing the chances of Jon coming.
That conversation between Daenerys and Varys is just weird. For one, shouldn’t they have had it before they sailed for Westeros? The timing seems odd, a season too late. It’s like Dany just magically remembered they needed to have this conversation.
But what’s truly bothering me is that it helps to highlight how much Varys’ characterization makes absolutely no sense in the wake of them omitting Aegon and his arc. The show is accidentally framing Varys as a thoughtless Targaryen loyalist but the dialogue is adamant
that he is not and that he is searching for a good king. They are
literally showing us something but telling us another. How can I accept
that Varys only wants to serve the realm when he genuinely planned to
seat Viserys Targaryen on the throne? Robert, by Varys’ own admission, was an improvement on Aerys because he was not mad or cruel, but the person whose loyalty lies with the people supposedly thought that replacing him by someone who is mad and cruel was in the best interest of the realm? The problem here is not that Varys chose the wrong Targaryen like he seems to think, the problem is that choosing Viserys as a monarch would have been devastating to Westeros, so why was Varys invested in overthrowing Robert and crowing Viserys again?
I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’d have preferred for them not to have this conversation at all. That only served to show how they shot themselves in the foot with Varys, and accomplished…. pretty much nothing. That was a monologue of some nice-sounding phrases that neither explained Varys’ motivation, nor why Dany thought it made any kind of sense. Varys’ speech belongs in another’s arc, and it showed.
I’m going to be watching and liveblogging the newest GoT now. If you want to avoid it, blacklist got lb.
Leave one wolf alive, and the sheep are never safe. When people ask you what happened here, tell them the North remembers. Tell them winter came for House Frey.
Arya Stark in 7.01
“Who Fears Death” is novel with science fiction and fantasy elements by American writer Nnedi Okorafor.
I’m very upset that they decided not to mention her name… She is an incredibly talented person and they made an unacceptable mistake….
She is the treasure of modern literature, but they presented her as if they were ashamed that a black woman could write something worthwhile.

I don’t want Arya to arrive at Winterfell on horseback… I want her to be riding Nymeria like the Wolf Queen she is.
